6 things I learned about the fruit punch that keeps showing up on my feed

Summary: A thirteen-second video of a red drink and a line about staying productive all day. That's all it took for me to look up what was in the packet. Here's what I found, what the ingredient research says, and what changed about my afternoons.

Here's all 6 👇

1. It was a thirteen-second video about fruit punch

No voiceover, no pitch. A girl stirring a red drink in a glass jar with a line of text over it about staying productive all day, and a stick pack I didn't recognise. That was enough for me to look it up, because "productive all day" is the exact thing I'd been failing at since about 2pm every afternoon for a year. Watch it, then keep reading for what's actually in the packet.

It's Superfocus, and the "all day" part is the formula

2. It's Superfocus, and the "all day" part is the formula

The red drink is Superfocus in Fruit Punch, a focus drink mix rather than an energy drink. The difference is what's doing the work. An energy drink is caffeine and sugar; this is 75mg of caffeine, about half a cup of coffee, paired with 150mg of L-theanine and four other ingredients that are about attention rather than stimulation. Zero sugar. You get a lift that doesn't spike, which is the only way "all day" is possible. There's a caffeine-free version if you want none.

Alpha-GPC is why the first hour is sharper, not just more awake

3. Alpha-GPC is why the first hour is sharper, not just more awake

Feeling alert and being better at the hard thing on your screen are different, and only one of them has a study. Alpha-GPC is a choline source, the raw material for the neurotransmitter your brain uses for attention. In a placebo-controlled trial, a single 315mg dose roughly doubled the improvement on a Stroop test, the classic measure of staying accurate when your brain wants to take the shortcut. Superfocus has 350mg of GeniusPure Alpha-GPC per packet, which is 315mg of the active compound. Same number as the study.

Kerksick et al., 2024: a single 315mg dose of Alpha-GPC produced roughly a 2-fold larger improvement in Stroop total score vs placebo (p=0.046). Research relates to the Alpha-GPC ingredient, not to Nello or to this product.

No 2pm crash, so the afternoon actually counts

4. No 2pm crash, so the afternoon actually counts

This is the part I was failing at. My mornings were fine; my afternoons were coffee number three and a wall. Half a coffee's worth of caffeine can't build a wall that high, and the L-theanine is there to smooth what's left: in EEG research it increases alpha brainwave activity, the relaxed-but-alert state, within about 45 minutes. In practice the 3pm slump stopped being a scheduled event. I can't tell you it'll double your income. I can tell you the second half of my day showed up.

Nobre, Rao & Owen, 2008: 50mg L-theanine increased alpha brainwave activity vs placebo, measured 45–105 minutes after intake. Statements about the afternoon describe personal experience, not clinical findings. Research relates to the L-theanine ingredient, not to Nello or to this product.

One packet replaced the shelf

5. One packet replaced the shelf

I'd been buying lion's mane capsules, a rhodiola tincture and a theanine bottle separately and taking them at random. Superfocus has all of them: 500mg of lion's mane fruiting body extract, 200mg of rhodiola rosea root, 1,000mg of N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (an amino acid your body uses to make dopamine), plus the theanine and the Alpha-GPC. One packet in cold water with breakfast. Not because stacking six things is clever, but because I'd never once taken all five separately on the same day.

Lion's mane, rhodiola and N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine are described, not claimed. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Every dose is printed, which is how you know it's not an energy drink

6. Every dose is printed, which is how you know it's not an energy drink

Per packet: N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine 1,000mg, lion's mane 500mg, GeniusPure Alpha-GPC 350mg, rhodiola 200mg, L-theanine 150mg, caffeine 75mg. Zero sugar, sweetened with monk fruit. No proprietary blend, no "energy complex" hiding the amounts. Fruit Punch, Blue Raspberry or Apple Rush, each with or without caffeine. That's the whole thirteen-second video, explained.
